Hand Sandwich (final version)

Hand Sandwich trailer (complete) from Jess Fretwell on Vimeo.

Hand cutting effect (prosthetics)

1) We created fake blood using water, golden syrup, flour and red food colouring.
2) Then the actors arm was placed on top of a chopping board along with a few vegetables to set the scene and the fake blood was poured all over their arm.
3) Then the camera man started to record and used the knife and gently slid it across their arm, being careful not to actually cut them.
4) There wasn't much to edit with this footage, just zooming in slightly closer to cut out the shadow of the actor's body and to speed it up as the cutting was quite slow.

Crashed car effect (miniature)

1) First we took a toy car and used a hammer to make it look damaged, being careful not to cut ourselves with any sharp pieces that may break off.
2) Then we made the road by coating a piece of card in glue and adding fake miniature stones and grass to it.
3) Next we placed the car on the road sideways to make it seem like it had tipped over, then we laid the camera on the same surface so the car seemed much larger. This scene was also positioned on and in front of a green screen.
4) Then in editing in Adobe Premier Pro I took out the green background using the ultra key tool and placed in an image of the sky.
5) I also cut the footage down slightly to where the tire travels across the shot.
6) Then I used a siren sound to add into the background.
